EXPLORE

Storytelling + Yoga

Journalists, collaborators, and friends Jill Filipovic and Nichole Sobecki founded BE HERE Retreats in 2021 to immerse storytellers and yogis in some of their favorite places on earth. Every BE HERE retreat includes writing workshops from journalist and author Jill Filipovic, photography workshops from National Geographic photojournalist Nichole Sobecki, and daily yoga and movement classes. It’s more than a vacation — it’s a chance to disconnect, explore some of the most spectacular corners of the world, and dive deep into your creative practices.

What our storytellers say:

“Honestly, I thought this was SO well executed. From communication to both of your internal knowledge of the country, to the activities and how personable, friendly and relaxed it was. I will definitely be going on another retreat! I only wish our time together in Kenya had been a little longer.”

-Danika

“Jill and Nichole curated the most incredible week of travel — we saw parts of the country you truly never experience without a local guide, and we knew that the wildlife preserves, initiatives, chefs, vendors, and organizations we interacted with were ethically sourced and well compensated. My yoga practice thrived but so did my sense of joy and wonder — I left my experience feeling physically and mentally refreshed, with more new friends than I could ever have imagined. Can not possibly recommend this experience enough — it's an incredible gift to give yourself.”

-Jess

“This was truly the best trip of my life. You respected the type of trip that each of us individually wanted to have, while still creating a welcoming group environment. I will cherish the experience forever!”

-Devan
