JILL FILIPOVIC is a journalist, author, and certified yoga instructor, and hosts writing + yoga retreats around the world. She has written two books: Ok Boomer, Let’s Talk: How My Generation Got Left Behind and The H-Spot: The Feminist Pursuit of Happiness. A weekly columnist for CNN and a 2019 New America Future of War fellow, she is a former contributing opinion writer to The New York Times and a former columnist for The Guardian. Her work has appeared in Time, The Washington Post, Foreign Policy, and many others, has been published in the anthologies Nasty Women: Feminism, Resistance and Revolution in Trump’s America and Yes Means Yes: Visions of Female Sexual Power and a World Without Rape. NICHOLE SOBECKI is a photographer, filmmaker and yoga practitioner who works with National Geographic and other leading publications. Through documentary storytelling, Nichole brings attention to humanity’s fraught, intimate, and ultimately unbreakable connection to the natural world. Born in New York, she has lived in Nairobi for the past decade. In 2016 Nichole began her body of work Where Our Land Was, which investigates the human consequences of significant environmental change in Somalia. She is currently exploring the vital role the Congo Basin plays in the ecological balance of our planet as a National Geographic Explorer. Nichole is represented internationally by the photo agency VII, and is a member of Women Photograph and Everyday Africa.
